Sambo Dasuki has been locked up for more than a year without trial. Corruption in Nigeria must be fought to save the nation. But this cannot be done with threats to our democracy. Nigeria has the laws to effectively fight all vices if implemented to the letter. However, locking up a citizen for over one year without trial is an antithesis of a democratic ideals. Respect for civil liberties and human rights of all citizens are critical to a vibrant democracy, We consider Dasuki Sambo's plights in the last year a threat to our democracy.
