Nigerian Endless Expressway Construction: 40 yrs and Counting.

Lagos-Ibadan Expressway
After over 40 yrs we are still constructing a mere 126 kilometers Lagos-Ibadan Expressway with annual mortality in the thousands. This is a mere 2 dual (4 lanes) carriageway. This is a national disgrace. In a society where I live, 500 kilometres of 5 dual (10 lanes) are constructed in 3-6 months and finished with all details including drainage system. This is what Nigeria has become.

BUHARI BACK: Emotions rule Aso Rock

Mohammadu Buhari: Nigerian PresidentA
Mohammadu Buhari returned to Nigeria on Friday, after 51 days on medical vacation in the UK. There is every indication that he would return to the UK in a couple of weeks to continue his medical vacation. We rejoice with Nigerians on the return of the president.
Apparently, Mr. President is really not out of the wood, heath wise. A healthy president can lead a healthy nation.  The weight and the stress of the presidency is not for the faint-hearted. We;ve have seen what the stress of the presidency does to the American presidents after 8 years in the office.  The grey hairs and the aging process.  Buhari is '74'. Therefore the age is not on his side.  It is in the best interest of the country and the health and long life of the president to retire or be retired.

Col. Dasuki Sambo (rtd): Former Nigeria NSA

Sambo Dasuki has been locked up for more than a year without trial.  Corruption in Nigeria must be fought to save the nation. But this cannot be done with threats to our democracy.  Nigeria has the laws to effectively fight all vices if implemented to the letter.  However, locking up a citizen for over one year without trial is an antithesis of a democratic ideals.  Respect for civil liberties and human rights of all citizens are critical to a vibrant democracy,  We consider Dasuki Sambo's plights in the last year a threat to our democracy.  We call for a bail and the release of Dasuki Sambo from jail and availed fair and public trial...

Buhari bows to pressure, puts up 2 presidential jets for sale

Nigerian Presidential Fleet
General Muhammadu Buhari speaking in London on Saturday, February 21, 2015.
"One of the major killer of our economy apart from corruption is Waste. Our scarce resources are being plundered away very carelessly and unnecessarily wasted. Let me give an instance, presently, there are more than 6 aircraft in the presidential fleet. What do you call that? Billions of naira is budgeted every year for the maintenance of these aircraft not to talk of operational cost and other expenses".
"You may want to ask what a Nigerian President is doing with so much aircraft when a Prime Minister of Britain fly around using the same public aircraft like an ordinary Briton. Go and check and compare with that of any developed country in the world, the office of the Nigerian President is a very expensive one in spite our high level of poverty and joblessness. Now, for me, when we come into office, all these waste will be blocked and properly channeled into our economy. We intend for instance, to bring back our National carrier, the Nigerian Airways. We shall do this by bringing all the aircraft in the presidential fleet into the Nigerian airway and within a year increase the fleet into about 20."
"What is the difference between me and those who elected us to represent them, absolutely nothing. Why should Nigerian President not fly with other Nigerian public? Why do I need to embark on a foreign trip as a president with a huge crowd with public funds? Why do I need to go for foreign medical trip if we cannot make our hospital functional? Why do we need to send our children to school abroad if we cannot developed our university to compete with the foreign ones? Why, and why must our people be servants to the foreigners in the midst of plenty?"   Read more....

Dasuki: Obey Ecowas Court order or foreign investors’ll evade Nigeria, SAN tells FG

President Buhari
We will continue to monitor this development. As Buhari has violated all the Nigerian judiciary injunctions in his vindictiveness and blind morbid obsession. Fix the economy now, Gowon tells Buhari

Gowon and Buhari
The One that would fix the economy is not yet here. Certainly, Buhari is not the one. Nigeria is a very funny Nation. We are the most enterprising black African nation on Earth and yet we remain marred in the stone age. The technocrats and the Intelligentsia are subdued and intimidated by the thuggish semi illiterates that lorded over our Nations for the past 55 yrs. I cannot imagine Buhari in the same room making policy decisions with Theresa May, Angela Merkel, Hilary Clinton, Justin Trudeau or Emmanuel Macron (possible future leader of France). Until we are courageous enough as a nation to say Enough is Enough in the face of threats of bloodbath from these old generation that ruined our nation, we don't stand a chance. Buhari and his generation must step aside for the new and young generation of Nigerians to assume the mantle of Leaderships.  Read more....

Buhari’s parochial appointments

President Buhari
Great editorial commentary except your salacious excoriation of the prior 6 yrs of Nigeria true democracy. Take it or leave it, Buhari is an unworthy custodian of our democracy. The people must return our nation to a democracy in 2019......AGAIN. Read more.....

Anarchy looms in Abia as third contender emerges, challenges court ruling affirming Ogah as gov-elect

Ikpeazu/Ogah
Because of the magnanimity of one man, we concluded a peaceful presidential election and all the naysayers that Nigeria would fall apart in 2015 were put to shame. That's in spite of the 3 millions underage voters, overvoters and card readers discrepancies. Today, the dogs and baboons blood did not flow just because one man was magnanimous. Ever since, our nation has been plunged into series of crises. Today the level of political terrorism has risen to the 1983 level when the citizens' civil liberties were thrown to the dogs. Today, Nigeria has the highest political prisoners in Africa under the disguised of corruption fight to decimate the opposition. Our nation has become a joke.  Read more..

Senate Forgery Trial: Turbulent relationship ahead for Presidency/National Assembly

President Buhari
We'll have peace in Nigeria as soon as Buhari is impeached or after 2019 when he's booted out or if he voluntarily withdrew from reelection. Buhari is not a man of peace. We had peaceful elections last yr. In 12 months, our nation has been in series of political and economic crises. There are more political prisoners in Nigeria today than anywhere in Africa. Without peace there cannot be prosperity.  Read more..

We got N345m for IDPs — Shettima

Shettima: Borno State Governor
Shettima just told us that Buhari's administration never committed any fund to the IDP care. If this is true then the nation is not in safe hands. If this administration cannot take care of the least among us then it is unworthy. We've seen starvation and deaths in these camps like never seen since the civil war. After all, the IDP are the collateral damages in the campaign to make the country ungovernable.

Buhari using ‘Boko Haram donor funds’ to persecute political enemies — UK’s Telegraph

Mohammed Buhari: Nigerian President
Buhari would do anything to decimate political opposition to turn Nigeria into one party system. He is not a man of honor. Buhari's disdain for democracy is pathological. He once destroyed our democracy in the 80s when he toppled an elected Nigerian government. His obsession with the persecution of real and perceived political opposition is straight from a dictator's manual. His relentless vilification of prior elected administration is the same script utilized by Buhari and OBJ and their co-dictators to justify their wanton illegalities.
We need an independent probe of how the foreign financial aid to fight terrorism are being disbursed by this administration.   Read more...

$15bn lost to corruption affected Nigeria’s economy — Osinbajo

Osibanjo: Nigerian Vice President
We welcome the fights against corruption. Like they said. If we don't kill corruption, corruption will kill us. Sadly, the wrong people are fighting this corruption in Nigeria. Decades of series of unaccountable dictatorships laid this foundation of corruption in Nigeria. Buhari and his generation of dictators were the generation that entrenched corruption and impunity. The new and young generation that will truly fight corruption are on the way. The last 6 yrs laid the foundation of Nigerian democracy where leaders will be held accountable. This APC administration led by Buhari will be probed like no other in the history of Nigeria at the right time by the new generation. The same political leeches that bastardized our economy are parading the corridor of power or dining and wining as we speak. Read more..
